Local alcohol with fall flavors

We're warming up!

With the arrival of cooler evenings, we naturally tend to opt for stronger cocktails, elixirs that “warm the inside”. We can think of, among others, the Old Fashioned, the dirty martini or the very popular Negro. For a 100% Quebecois version of the latter, grab a bottle of Amer Amer, the local equivalent of the famous Campari drink. This bitter liqueur, made in Montreal using quinine, gentian and cinnamon, respects Italian beer traditions without losing its Quebecois accent.

1 or 2 cocktails: Dolce Far Niente

In the fall, producers are busy picking in the orchards and harvesting in the vineyards. Although not known to the general public, it is also cranberry harvest time! It is a fascinating process in which the fields are flooded with water, then the fruits are unwrapped, gathered and vacuumed. At the heart of Stadaconé Distillery's Red Gin, red berries are perfectly highlighted by their pigmentation and subtle sweet notes.

Sparkling apple juice, strawberry, Au Pied de Cochon

For an aperitif that doesn't lack excitement, we turn to Au Pied de Cochon sparkling cider cans. The fungi are fermented with different fruits from local producers (strawberries, watermelon, wild apples, blackcurrants) and we love them for their dry side, no artificial flavors and subtle bubbles. Its practical shape is perfect for quenching our thirst after a day hiking in the mountains or a family visit to the orchard!
