Bongoano, A total of 113,550 long-lasting impregnated mosquito nets are being distributed to 45,756 registered households in the Bongoano Health Zone, the agency learned on Friday, July 5, during a visit to the headquarters of this health zone.
According to the Chief of Health Action Service (CSAS) and co-coordinator of LLIN distribution activities, Dr. Kolo Tinan Konyi, the distribution started on Thursday, July 4, 2024 and will continue until July 8, 2024, to allow the population to protect themselves against mosquito bites and thus against malaria.
“We have five days and we are asking all residents to go out en masse to collect mosquito nets using the tickets given to them during the census,” Dr. Kony advised.
He specified that many distribution stations have been opened for this purpose, especially in the 28 January area of Habitat, in Koufikro, in Dioulakro and even stations in the villages.
“We are asking all residents to come and remove their nets. We are there from 7:30 am to 5:45 pm, any time of the day. They can go to the distribution points and collect the long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs). We are open to everyone and if there is any problem, the health area is open and we remain ready to solve any potential problems. We hope to see increasingly large crowds until July 8,” he added.
Dr Kolo Kony then welcomed the large number of withdrawals recorded since the start of operations, saying he was confident that things were going well.
“There may be some residents, people who have not received the information because there are activists on the ground to inform them. We also have a taxi that goes around to provide information. We hope that with the AIP, the information will reach a few people who do not have it. Above all, we remain present, and we are present until the evening of the eighth day at 5:30 p.m. If there is any problem, they can come and see us,” Dr. Kone concluded.
