2nd edition of the Grau-du-Roi Science Festival, from 5 to 13 October 2024

For the second year, the municipality brings together local institutional and scientific partners around a common programme of a week of free activities to promote their field, targeting all audiences, in several places in the city, from October 5 to 13, 2024.

The goal? Share the public’s enthusiasm for science, technology and innovation through a variety of free events on science culture, while maintaining a festive and participatory approach. The 2024 edition of the Science Festival will be under the theme “Ocean of Knowledge”.

In the program, a mini-science village will be set up in the square in front of the town hall on Saturday morning, October 5, which will bring together many stakeholders and local scientists in the field of water and the sea. Activities, visits, meetings, exhibitions and participatory workshops will be offered during the rest of the week for children and adults who want to learn more about the issues surrounding water and our coasts.

The Coastal Climate Conference, in partnership with the Regional Agency for Energy and Climate (AREC), will also be organized on the morning of October 12 at the Yacht Club in the form of a round table and participatory workshops. It will bring together scientists, social professionals, experts, citizens and young people to talk about climate, the coast, etc.

The Occitanie Region, the main sponsor of the Science Festival, is strongly committed to the dialogue between science and society, a key vector of progress and democracy. Each year, it mobilizes a budget of 1.2 million euros in favor of scientific, technical and industrial culture, reaching more than 177,000 people throughout Occitanie. This edition, which highlights the relationship between science and the oceans, is particularly in line with the Region's action, strongly mobilized since 2016, notably within the framework of the 21st Coastal Plan, to build the maritime future of the region, by reconciling economic dynamism and environmental preservation.
