Mexico rejects any sanctions against Russia

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Tuesday that he has ruled out any kind of sanctions against Russia, rejecting “censorship” of Russian media after Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

We will not take any reprisals of an economic kind, because we must maintain good relations with all the governments of the world. “We want to be able to talk to the conflicting parties,” the left-nationalist president said during his traditional daily press conference.

I do not agree with the censorship of the media from Russia, or from any country. We must emphasize freedom.”

YouTube announced that Russian media channels RT and Sputnik have been blocked across Europe “in light of the ongoing war in Ukraine”.

On Sunday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyden announced that they would be banned from joining the European Union to prevent them from spreading their “lies” about Moscow’s war in Ukraine.
