Fans engage in a debate between Ronaldo and Messi after the Portuguese star scored for Manchester United

The long-running controversy between Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) and Lionel Messi (Paris Saint-Germain) has resurfaced.

Manchester United drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Old Trafford in the Premier League on April 28. The Portuguese was once again the Red Devils’ savior as he equalized to disallow Marcos Alonso’s goal.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has now netted 17 Premier League goals from 28 games this season and is only behind Mohamed Salah (22) in the league’s top scorer charts. He scored 23 goals in all competitions with the struggling Manchester United team this season. Ronaldo scored eight of the last nine goals scored by the Red Devils in the league.

Meanwhile, Messi scored only four goals and 13 assists in 22 Ligue 1 matches with Paris Saint-Germain. He joined Paris last summer after Barcelona failed to renew his contract due to financial problems and wage rules in La Liga. He struggled to break into the Paris Saint-Germain team, scoring just nine goals in 30 matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has scored more than 100 goals in the Premier League, La Liga, and the Champions League. He also scored more than 100 goals for Juventus in all competitions during his time with the Serie A club.

To confirm this fact, fans took to Twitter to participate in a debate after Manchester United’s draw against Chelsea. Here are some of their best reactions:
