After taking part in the Dakar and Monte Carlo Rally, Sebastien Loeb is expected to spend this weekend in Portugal for the first round of the DTM Championship. He will try to shine while driving the Ferrari 488 GT3.
As Sebastien Loeb used to many years ago, he faces many challenges. If since 2012 the Alsatian no longer dedicates itself full time to WRC, it stands out in other motoring disciplines, be it rally, rally or different circuit events. This year, the nine-time world champion finished second in the Dakar, his best rating. A few days later, he won the legendary Monte Carlo race. On this occasion, he finished ahead of compatriot Sebastien Ogier and increased his WRC success record to 80, while becoming the oldest winner in discipline, at 47 years and 10 months. At the end of April, for the first meeting of the DTM (German Touring Car Championship) season, the driver takes the seat of the Ferrari 488 GT3. Its mission, to participate in two races organized this weekend in Portimão, Portugal. The same place where Fabio Quartararo, in MotoGP, came back to win last week.

A month ago, Sebastien Loeb took part in some test sessions at the famous Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) track. The news he announced as part of the Red Bull AlphaTauri AF Corse has caused a sensation in the motorsport world. However, his commitment to this year’s DTM Championship is meticulous. The champ is still keen to maintain true versatility as he has done since the “end” of his WRC career. On the Portuguese track, he replaced the New Zealand driver Nick Cassidy. The latter is not available due to his full commitment to Formula E (this weekend the Monaco E-Prix takes place).

So Loeb will play the third man in a squad that also includes Felipe Fraga in its ranks. On his brilliant start to discipline and during the first laps of the track, Sebastien Loeb was one second behind his teammate. But everyone knows that Loeb learns faster than the others and that gap should close quickly. After this first independent work, it is expected that Sebastien Loeb will be present again in the DTM, at the beginning of July in Nöhring (Germany).
