Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden meets Albert II in Lisbon

From 2016 to 2019, Crown Princess Victoria was the UN Secretary-General’s Ambassador for the Global Sustainable Development Goals. Her mission is complete, and she is now Honorary Ambassador. Sea conference follows World Ocean Conference 2017, of which Sweden and Fiji were initiators. The objective of the Maritime Conference is to search for solutions for the sustainable management of the world’s oceans. Kenya and Portugal are hosting this year’s Maritime Conference.

The Crown Prince began her visit by attending an event on how to channel fisheries financing towards the blue economy by creating conditions for profitable overseas investments. Then, the Crown Prince participated in another conference where Sweden and Finland showed how these countries are at the forefront of developing sustainable shipping solutions. Then the Crown Prince met the researcher who is working on this topic.

On her second day in Portugal, the Crown Prince attended the Naval Conference. Breakfast organized by International Coral Reef Initiative which described the measures needed to save coral reefs and an action plan for the next three years was presented. Prince Albert II of Monaco sat alongside Crown Princess Victoria at the event.

During the day, Victoria participated in the launch of the SeaBOS (Marine Business of Oceans Oversight) report. It’s a collaboration between researchers and ten of the world’s largest seafood companies to think about sustainable seafood production.

On the afternoon of June 29, Princess Victoria gave herself a little moment of discovery, after meeting Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa during a meeting at the presidential palace. The Crown Prince visited the monastery of the Hyeronimites. In the evening, the Crown Prince attended a highly selected dinner with ocean friends In the Lisbon Museum.
