Carlos Queiroz defends Ronaldo after a controversial interview

Iran coach Carlos Queiroz was not surprised by his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo’s criticism of Manchester United today. He believes his countryman finds the English club very unstable.

In response to a question from the Portuguese media in Doha, Qatar, where the final stage of the 2022 World Cup will be held, the Portuguese technician commented on Ronaldo’s recent interview, which “destroyed” Manchester United and their coach Eric Ten Hag.

“I’m a little late, but it doesn’t surprise me because the context of the club is not the same. The truth is that, perhaps, signing Cristiano as a player is one thing, because something that would have happened to the club that would have made the shift of philosophy, or change philosophy, is quite another. », said the 69-year-old technician.

Then the former assistant manager of the Red Devils between 2002 and 2008 – the technical director of Real Madrid – spoke of the “great instability” that the Portuguese found at Old Trafford.

“The club is going through a moment of great instability. Cristiano arrived and he didn’t see the same mentality, the same way of being. He struggled to adapt and find habits in a club that was always winning and trying to recover. You can’t fix that in six months or a year, it takes four to seven years,” analyze.

“These are players who have made great contributions and solutions to the teams. When we have a 37-year-old Ronaldo, it is clear that the approach to competition and training must be different. It must be understood differently, with due consideration and common sense,” he argued.
