The Pele Foundation and Sportv have launched a campaign to include the Brazilian star’s name in the Portuguese language lexicon. The point is that the term “Pelé” means greatness, referring to the three-time world champion striker.
This campaign aims to honor one of the most important players in history by immortalizing him in the voice and writing of every Brazilian.

As part of the campaign, the term ‘Pelé’ could be entered into the dictionary with definitions such as ‘the best of all time’, ‘the standard of greatness’, ‘unparalleled’, ‘synonymous with excellence’ and ‘unique’. This initiative aims to institutionalize the term “pelé” so that it will remain forever in the Portuguese language.

The petition is supported by Santos and Memorabília do Esporte, who consider this campaign culturally important.
