The UGA Sports Federation officially announced this during a meeting on Wednesday afternoon. Brooks, 40, is replacing Greg McGaretti, who retired last month and is now president of Gators Bowl Sports.
Brooks, who took over as interim general manager on January 1, joined Team Georgia in December 2016 as Assistant Executive Director of Athletics after serving as Deputy Director of Athletics at the University of Louisiana Monroe from 2015-2016.
He was promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics in Georgia in 2018 and Senior Vice President of Athletics in 2020.
A native of Hammond, Los Angeles, he previously held positions as Director of Athletics at Millsaps Colleges (14-20-2015) and Assistant and Assistant Director of Athletics for Internal Operations in Georgia during his first term in Athens (2012-2014).
From his official résumé on the Sports Federation website: “During his tenure, Brooks worked closely with McGaretti, overseeing internal and external sports operations. He acts as a liaison with the University of Architects office on all sports construction projects and with many campus departments in addition to the president’s office. His responsibilities at UGA included overseeing the facilities support departments, graphics, design and lawn management.
“When you think about all the facility improvements, we’ve done over the past 10 years – more than $ 300 million in improvements – over the same time. We haven’t drawn in long-term debt.
