Madonna was in Portugal for her 65th birthday. The pop icon said on Instagram that it was “cool to be alive”.
The pop queen, who celebrated her birthday on Wednesday (August 16), posted details on Instagram on Friday about how she spent her special day in Lisbon, Portugal.
“It’s so cool to be alive…and amazing to be able to put on my dancing shoes and celebrate my birthday!” She commented on the post, which included a montage of clips. “I am so grateful. Thank you Lisbon and everyone who made this possible!”
“Live behind the scenes, stay behind the scenes”
In the photos, Madonna can be seen enjoying a series of activities for her birthday, such as a boat ride, then horseback riding on the beach, and finally dancing and dining with her loved ones.
In one clip, Madonna’s daughter Lourdes is seen serenading her mother, while in another, friends and family are seen singing along to “Your Elton John.” The images were accompanied by Madonna’s song Vogue.
“I’m going to ruin everything with my jewels. Be backstage, live behind the scenes, stay behind the scenes,” Madonna told the camera, wearing diamond-encrusted sunglasses.
Recovering from a bacterial infection
The star continues to recover after being hospitalized for a strep infection in June. Earlier this week, she announced the new dates for her Celebration Tour, which kicks off in London on October 14. The concerts were postponed after the pop icon spent several days in intensive care.
In July, Madonna admitted she was “lucky to be alive” and thanked her family and fans for their support.
