The MSA Villefranchois Regional Committee in partnership with France Alzheimer Aveyron and ADMR 12 organizes a conference on the topic of Alzheimer's disease, on Thursday, February 8 at 8 pm, at Beauregard High School. This will be followed by a presentation of the “Bulle d'Air” service dedicated to respite at home for family caregivers.

225,000 new cases every year

The committee notes that “in the face of the increase in life expectancy and the complexity of the biological mechanisms causing neurodegenerative diseases, more than one million people develop Alzheimer’s disease, with 225,000 new cases each year.” “It affects 1 in 20 people aged 65 and over and more than 1 in 4 people over 85.”
This conference will be hosted by Dr. Lambert, Honorary President of the French Alzheimer's Association and former geriatrician. It will address, among other things, questions surrounding the symptoms and causes of the disease. Aspects related to the development of this disease will also be discussed.
The ADMR consortium will deliver the “Bulle d'Air” home comfort service that has been deployed for two years with support from MSA in the Aveyron division. This service is aimed at family carers who provide daily support to loved ones who have been weakened by age, illness or disability. To allow the family caregiver to take a break, during his or her absence, a “deportee” can come to the home for a few hours, at night or for several days in a row (weekends, etc.) to accompany the loved one.
