The Science and Faith Project opens a new round of funding for churches

Forensic archaeologists investigate relics found at the Church of St Mary and St Enswyth, Folkestone.

The Equipping Christian Leadership in the Age of Science (ECLAS) Scholars in Congregations program will offer grants of up to £10,000 each to eight churches who will run a science project that will benefit their congregation and the wider community. Until 30 April, applications are open to churches across the UK and the Republic of Ireland of any Christian denomination, and ECLAS welcomes applications from a wide range of theological perspectives and scholarly fields.

A professional scholar already known to the congregation or church leaders: former
Projects are categorized in theme from environmental engagement to mental health awareness,
Forensic archeology to artificial intelligence. They took the form of plays and art
Installations, workshops and more. Some are projects that have been ongoing for over a year or more, e.g
Believe in Wonder Science Days for Kids, run by Holy Trinity and Christchurch,
Stalybridge, and some are one-offs, like Does God Want Me to Take the Vaccine?
Webinar led by Pastor Alton Bell at Wembley Family Church. Scientists in groups
The program looks for strategic churches that have strong relationships with local communities.
