Opened on April 30, the new Center for Oncology, Radiotherapy and Neuroradiosurgery of Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL) combines in one place the latest generation of particle accelerators and Gamma Knife. This device allows you to perform operations on the brain without opening the skull. The first is in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Half of all cancer patients are treated with radiotherapy at some point in their care journey. In this context, Hospices Civils de Lyon has chosen to invest significantly in this constantly evolving specialty. This new center for oncology, radiotherapy and neuroradiosurgery of Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL) is located near the Pierre Wertheimer Neurological Hospital (Bron).
“ The location of the new center allows the hospital to be brought closer to the patient, ensuring clinical and geographical coordination with the aim of always providing better and optimal care, while respecting the patient. “, explains Professor Olivier Chapet.

The Gamna Knife, the first of its kind in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
The Center for Radiotherapy and Neurosurgery and Radio-Oncology has the first Gamma Knife device in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
