Concerns about the “TinTen” application, which is very popular among young people

The Ten Ten mobile app, which allows you to talk to another user at any time via your phone's speaker, raises several concerns.

The principle of “Ten Ten” is simple, it allows you to record a voice message that will automatically be read on the recipient's phone as a ringtone, even if his device is in standby mode.

This makes the only way to not receive these messages is to activate Do Not Disturb mode.

Many people are concerned about the use that young people can make of this program in relation to harassment, especially in France, where the application is at the top of the list of the most downloaded free applications.

The country's Interior Ministry itself issued a warning in a post on the social network asking to be “extremely careful” before using it.

“Teens share their nicknames in comments on TikTok videos on Ten Ten,” the message read. “Chatting with strangers online poses a risk, especially without knowing their identity.”

We add: “Behind the fun, there are serious risks to online privacy and security.” The application automatically retrieves your IP address, location, and other sensitive information.

The repercussions have also appeared in classrooms in France, where teachers say they are being interrupted during lessons, according to Ouest-France, while mobile devices are not banned as has been the case in Quebec for several months.

In Canada, Ten Ten is the 42nd most popular app on the Apple App Store.
