Republican Convention | JD Vance Enters the Scene

(Milwaukee) Donald Trump's pick to help him campaign and will become vice president if the Republican is elected: Unconventional Sen. J.D. Vance delivers his big speech Wednesday at the Milwaukee convention.

The young Ohio official-elect will address media around the world, during a new prime-time evening for the party's large crowds.

The 39-year-old best-selling author came to the fore when Donald Trump announced Monday that he would choose him as his running mate in the White House race, ending weeks of suspense.

The believer among the believers

For a presidential candidate, this choice often serves the purpose of attracting new voters, or compensating for specific weaknesses in terms of image or platform.

J.D. Vance, an anti-establishment elected official from a humble background, with a unique background since he had a career in the military as well as in Silicon Valley, must reassure the party’s most right-wing voters, while Donald Trump tries to make inroads among moderate voters.

In the US Senate, this tall brunette with piercing blue eyes stood out for her fierce opposition to aid to Ukraine, demanding that the money be allocated instead to combating illegal immigration.

If Donald Trump, 78, is elected, J.D. Vance will also bring a wave of youth to the White House as he becomes the third-youngest vice president in U.S. history.

But perhaps one quality matters more than anything else in explaining his selection by the Republican nominee: loyalty.

Although he has been critical of Donald Trump in the past, J.D. Vance has made a complete about-face to establish himself as one of the most ardent advocates for the billionaire and his MAGA, “Make America Great Again” ideology.

On Saturday, just hours after the shooting of the former president, J.D. Vance accused President Joe Biden of having “directly caused this assassination attempt” through his speech about the dangers of Trumpism.

Trump's speech on Thursday

It was no surprise that the attack turned the Milwaukee convention, which was primarily intended to nominate Donald Trump as the Republican nominee for the November 5 presidential election, upside down.

The images of the septuagenarian, his fist raised and his ear bandaged in a room carpeted in red and blue, are truly historic.

Some of his supporters immediately imitated him, also walking the hallways of the Milwaukee Sports Complex with a small white square hiding their hearing aids.

“I do this to honor President Trump and the sacrifice he makes for our country,” said Arizona Delegate Joe Neglia.

But the culmination of this carefully choreographed mass will come on Thursday when Donald Trump formally accepts his party's nomination.

Suitable for a spectacular party, featuring the traditional release of thousands of red, white and blue balloons.

This will be the first time the Republican will speak on stage since surviving the assassination attempt.

Once the convention is over, Donald Trump will travel to Michigan on Saturday where he will hold a campaign rally exactly one week after the attack.

JD Vance will take his place next to him on stage.
