Portuguese Pepe ends career at 41

The 41-year-old Portuguese international Pepe announced the end of his career in a video clip posted on social media.

“I would like to thank everyonePepe said in a video he posted on his Instagram account, listing the clubs he played for, the choices and even his family.

“Everyone gave me the support I needed to leave with a clear conscience.“, confirms the central defender who says goodbye after participating in the 2024 European Nations Championship and after the end of his contract with Porto.

Ten years at Real Madrid

Born in Brazil, Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira, his real name, arrived in Portugal at the age of 18, starting his professional career at Marítimo de Madeira. After a first spell at Porto (2004-2007), he played for 10 years at Real Madrid, notably winning the 2016 European Championship and three Champions League titles with the 'White House' (2014, 2016, 2017). After a season and a half with Besiktas, he returned to Porto in January 2019.
