Jean-Marc Léger says Donald Trump has benefited from the 'ballot box issue'.

Polls still indicate a very close race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, but the former president will be in favor of the “ballot box issue.”

This is what Jean-Marc Léger, president of the opinion polling firm Léger, believes.

In an interview with LCN on Friday, he explained that finances are at the heart of residents' concerns and that this factor is in the former president's interest.

“On the economy, Americans remain convinced that Donald Trump has offered them a better economic future than Ms. Harris,” he said on the Quebec Matin programme.

This aspect of the election campaign will therefore be the 78-year-old's “last bastion” if he hopes to regain the seat as president he lost in 2021.

The political analyst believes that “if he loses in the economy, he will lose the elections.”

Harris is on the force

According to many pollsters, the Democratic candidate is currently in a state of momentum.

It would actually be 3% ahead, according to Mr. Léger.

He adds: “It's the enthusiasm that's especially evident on the Democratic side because they've been on Mr. Trump's side for a long time.”

Money is also another factor that works in Ms. Harris' favor.

His political party will have $500 million it can spend for the remainder of the campaign, according to Jean-Marc Léger.

This would allow the vice president to gain greater exposure against her Republican rival.
