The 4-month cruise stopped in Northern Ireland: the ship had to return there a few hours after its departure

The Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship, which was finally able to leave Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Monday, after four months of delay, was forced to turn back after just a few hours at sea.

Paperwork related to his departure has not yet been completed, which could force him to return to Northern Ireland, according to The Guardian.

The cruise, which has a planned three-year itinerary, will be able to depart for good at around 11pm (6pm ET) on Tuesday.

The ship has been stuck in Belfast, its port of departure, since May because the certification process took longer than expected.

Although it was built in 1993, the boat had to comply with the same standards as a new boat, CNN reported.

Although some passengers chose to explore Belfast and Northern Ireland, others chose to return home until departure was made.

A Canadian woman and an American who were scheduled to take part in the cruise met in May and were married in Belfast last month.

Villa Vie Odyssey offers long-haul cruises and allows the purchase of a villa for the life of the ship.
