A New Year's Eve party, which extended into the early hours of the morning, reportedly ended badly in the parking lot of a two-Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant, when the celebrity chef, drunkenly, punched a staff member on Monday.
“While leaving the restaurant’s employee parking lot, a man was struck by a car. The victim was in danger of death and was immediately taken to hospital, Antwerp Public Prosecutor's Office spokesman Christoph Aerts told Het Laatste Nieuws on Monday, as reported by Belgian media outlet 7sur7.
Early in the morning, between six and seven o'clock in the morning, the police were called to go to the two-star restaurant “The Jean”, located in Antwerp, Belgium, where the driver of the car was the famous chef. The spokesman continued that the Nick Brill Foundation was going to contact the authorities itself.
However, the 39-year-old Belgian chef, who was named chef of the year by French gastronomic guide Gault & Millau, would have tested positive for alcohol when police arrived, so his license was immediately revoked. As reported by Belgian media.
He added that his car would also have been towed for investigation purposes.
For his part, the chef's lawyer, Omar Suwaidi, explained that the victim was a trainee at the restaurant, originally from the United Kingdom, and had been working in the institution for only a few weeks, according to the 7sur7 website.
“The events occurred after a New Year's party at Jane's. In the photos, police could see the man was already on the ground [au moment de la collision]However, he explained, adding that the circumstances were still to be determined.
