A European cruise ship docks for the first time in 15 years in Venezuelan territory

The MS Amadea cruise ship, carrying more than 500 passengers from European countries, including Spain, France and Germany, docked on Tuesday for the first time in 15 years on Venezuelan soil.

According to MSN information, the ship was docked at Margarita Island. This is “another sign of Venezuela’s recent opening up to Europe.”

“The cruise ship Amadea is already in the international port of Guamache on Margarita Island, with more than 500 passengers ready to enjoy the kindness, friendliness and attention of the Venezuelan people,” the minister reported. The Venezuelan transfer, Ramón Velásquez Araguayan, on his Twitter profile.

In another message posted on the same social network, the Venezuelan Minister of Transport added that the Latin American country has rewritten history “and continues to break the blockade of unilateral coercive measures that have prevented cruise ships from Europe from reaching Bolivar’s land for 15 years.”

For its part, the public company Bolivariana de Puertos (Bolipuertos) noted on Twitter that after the disembarkation of tourists, the local authorities offered a tour of the beaches and historical areas of the island.

The cruise ship, owned by Amadea Shipping Company and operated by Germany’s Phoenix Reisen Fleet, has docked at the Guamache International Port on Margarita Island after docking in Trinidad and Tobago.

The MS Amadea has already passed through the ports of Cadiz, Spain, as well as the Portuguese island of Funchal, the capital of the Madeira archipelago, and Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados.

After docking in a Venezuelan port on Tuesday, it was on its way to the island of Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean.
