A 49-year-old father died a week after being trapped for five hours in a narrow tunnel at an adventure park in Keswick, England.
“At three o’clock today I sat down with Carl to say goodbye forever. He was my little brother and over the past few years he has become my best friend.” […] “It became clear that the injuries were severe and that he would not survive,” Olivia Short, the victim’s sister, said in a Facebook post on Monday.
Carl O’Keefe, 49, was rescued by emergency services on April 22 after he got stuck in a simulated cave at Kong Adventure Center in Kestwick in northwest England, reports The Independent.
“The staff tried to help the man and follow all emergency procedures, but it turned out that outside help was needed,” British media quoted Kong Adventure as saying in a statement.
Emergency services, including firefighters, mountain and cave rescuers, as well as paramedics, were called in to extract the victim, who had to go to hospital.
It was at Carlisle Hospital that a father of three breathed his last on Monday.
“My heart is broken. Just like the rest of our family,” his sister concluded.
