Could a huge parachute in space be one of the solutions to the climate crisis?
This isn't science fiction or fake news: It's the New York Times telling us this week that a group of scientists is planning to send a massive shield into space to reduce the effects of solar radiation on Earth.

“It seems to have become so serious that an Australian company has announced that it is ready to build and send a prototype,” says the columnist.
“Funding is obviously part of the key to all of this to get it into space within three years. So that's what's been announced. Obviously the prototype is not going to have the surface area of the proposed final solution at all. We're still talking about a much smaller version, About a hundred square metres. But the point of this undertaking is to show that it's a possible solution. A solution that might work because that's the goal. In theory, it sounds great, but is it something that could actually work?
