A teenager sets fire to the wrong house, killing a family of five

An American teenager wanted revenge for the theft of his iPhone, so he decided to start a fire among the “thieves”; However, he targeted the wrong house, killing a family of five people, including two children.

Kevin Bowie was 16 years old when he first noticed his phone had been taken from him in August 2020. He used the “Find My iPhone” app on another device to track the whereabouts of the item, according to information received. New York Post.

Later, a fire actually broke out in a house in a neighborhood in Denver, Colorado.

A couple and their 22-month-old daughter died, as well as another family member and their 6-month-old daughter. Three other people were injured while trying to escape from the burning house. They jumped from the second floor.

The teenager was accompanied by two friends wearing masks and black jackets. Police identified the trio as suspects after obtaining a search warrant for Google to hand over IP addresses which were searched to obtain a home address.

Kevin Bowie, now 20, pleaded guilty last week. Since he was tried as an adult on two counts of second-degree murder, he was offered a plea deal of up to 60 years in prison, or 30 years on each count.

Dillon Siebert, an accomplice who was 14 at the time, was sentenced last year to three years in juvenile detention and seven years in a state prison program for juvenile detainees after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

Gavin Seymour, 19, was sentenced to 40 years in prison last March after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

Kevin Bowie's final sentencing will be pronounced on July 2.
