A woman gives birth with two uteruses and gives birth to twins, an “extremely rare” condition.

A Chinese woman gave birth to twins in September. The peculiarity is that the two children grew up in different wombs.

Extremely rare condition. A woman with two uteruses has reportedly given birth to twins in China CNN Friday, September 4, citing local health authorities, as well as several official media outlets.

The mother, introduced simply as Ms Lee, gave birth to a girl and a boy, who were born via caesarean section. For 9 months, they grew separately, each in a different womb.

The Chinese hospital where the two children were born said: “It is extremely rare for a twin pregnancy to occur naturally in each cavity of the uterus, and it is extremely rare for a twin pregnancy to occur.”

Great medical supervision

During an ultrasound examination last January, at the beginning of her pregnancy, Ms. Lee, a mother of three children, learned the good news.

Doctors then decided to provide her with significant medical monitoring for this pregnancy, which was considered high-risk.

Finally, in September, she gave birth to two healthy babies weighing 3.2kg and 2.4kg.

Only 0.05% of women are affected

How do we explain such births? According to the doctors who treated Ms. Lee, she was born with two uteruses and two necks.

Then we talk about the bilateral delphic uterus. This disease is very rare, as it affects only about 0.05% of women worldwide. It is rare to have two uteruses and to have two separate pregnancies at the same time.

The story had a happy ending this time for Ms. Lee, who, according to the hospital, had previously suffered a miscarriage.
