(Agence Ecofin) – In 2021, the Mobile Film Festival organized its first African edition. After a break, the 2023 virtual event has just been announced.
2H An edition of the Mobile Film Festival Africa will take place from May 3-31, 2023. The information was released through a press release issued by the organizers which also announced the launch of a call for applications for this year’s competition.
In 2021, the first African edition of the Mobile Film Festival welcomed 497 films from 38 countries.
Selected films must be a maximum of one minute in length and shot using a mobile phone. The 2023 edition will be accompanied by celebrities such as comedian Gad Al-Maleh, who, according to preliminary information, is chairing the festival’s jury. This year, the prizes totaling 40,000 euros will be awarded on June 8th at the Renaissance Cinema in Rabat.
The competition remains online, however, selection of films in competition will be available online. According to the organizers, films can be presented in the competition this year in the languages and dialects chosen by the directors. It will be translated into French, English, Arabic and Portuguese by DotSub, the partner of the event.
