Alzheimer's France introduces “memory cafes”

France Alzheimer Lot is organizing a “Memory Café” in Gordon on Monday, February 26 from 2:30 pm at the “La Promenade” restaurant, 48 Boulevard Galliot de Genouillac. What is Memory Café? While it is often very difficult for families to express themselves about the disease, France Alzheimer's “Memory Cafés” provide a warm, convenient setting for meeting and discussion. Over coffee, participants exchange information and build relationships with each other. With the help of a psychologist, volunteers welcome and lead these meetings. Specialists may also be invited to answer questions about illness, financial aid, nutrition, etc. In Gourdon, France Alzheimer Lot also offers two discussion groups for family caregivers, led by a psychologist, where care recipients can be looked after by volunteers during these groups, a joyful group, offering outings with caregivers and those being cared for; A body expression group for carers and those being cared for, led by professional and individual interviews by appointment. The Gordon Branch works in collaboration with Carers Home, a respite platform for carers, with support from Gordon Hospital Centre.
