Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Resorts will open its second hotel in Portugal, in a former 15th century monastery.
The Anantara Royal Vila Vicosa is located in the Alentejo region, about 200 kilometers east of Lisbon, near the border with Spain.
Scheduled to open in 2024, the hotel will feature 50 rooms, ten suites, and 16 residences, as well as indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, three meeting rooms, and “many dining options,” including a restaurant, bar and private restaurant. Thailand-based Anantara, part of the Minor Hotels group, opened its first European hotel in Portugal’s Algarve region in 2017, and has since added properties in Budapest, Dublin, Marbella, Rome and the Netherlands.
The group’s first French hotel is also under development in Nice.
