Car factory resumes production

The Volkswagen Group announced on September 20 that it would resume production on October 2, albeit with smaller than usual teams, but bringing forward the restart date by more than a month, which was initially scheduled for November 12.

Autoeuropa has brought forward the resumption of activity to today, after securing the supply of a key part for the T-Roc, the only car produced at the Palmela plant, in the Setúbal area, with a Spanish company and a Chinese company, thanks to the work carried out by the logistics and purchasing departments of the German brand.

The company was forced to announce a nine-week production shutdown, from September 11 to November 12, due to difficulties with a supplier in Slovenia, which was badly affected by flooding in that country earlier this month.

The company confirmed at the time that it was looking for alternative solutions to resume production as soon as possible, which is now confirmed by the scheduled resumption of production from November 12 until next Monday.

Autoeuropa is a company with a significant impact on the Portuguese economy, accounting for 1.5% of the national GDP. The production stoppage at the Palmela plant has affected dozens of Portuguese suppliers, including several companies in the Autoeuropa industrial complex, which have already announced the dismissal of 325 workers in precarious jobs.
