Cesaria Evora in music and images

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 29 Cesaria Evora, the barefoot singer Of which FIP is a partner, it is dedicated to the Queen of Morna with unpublished archival photographs, original recordings and unique certificates. Cesaria Evora Amalia Rodrigues was born in 1941 in the small coastal town of Mindelo in Cape Verde. She was seven years old when her father, Justino da Cruz Evora, who played the cello to feed his family, died, leaving her mother, a cook for wealthy Portuguese families in Cape Verde, in poverty. She was then raised by her grandmother in an orphanage where she joined a choir and, from the age of sixteen, sang in sailors’ taverns and private parties? Only in 1985 did sad blues music sweep the planet. In 1988, she discovered France and recorded her first album, The singer is barefoot! On the label of his manager and producer José da Silva. After more than twenty years of career and ten albums, Cesaria Evora died on December 17, 2011, on her native island, at the age of 70.
