The initiative promoted by the municipality in partnership with Ronca – Cineclub of Elvaswill cover all the rural parishes of this municipality until August 10, always with performances scheduled from 9:30 p.m.
Luis Graça, from the management of Ronca-Cineclub de Elvas, explained to Lusa that the initiative includes a show that includes “emblematic scenes” from some classic films of Portuguese cinema, through “a theatrical concert of about 30 minutes”.
After this screening entitled “Lisbon Song – From Theatre to Cinema”, the film “Lisbon Song” which premiered in 1933 and gave its name to the event in Elvas will be screened.
He stressed that “this is the first film entirely in Portuguese, produced in Portugal.”
After the previous edition of the event focused more on the city of Elvas, Ronca – Cineclub de Elvas proposed this initiative to decentralize the municipal executive through the rural parishes.
“Our goal is to achieve cultural decentralization in the big cities, to establish cultural democracy and to defend these values,” said Luis Graça.
According to its synopsis, “A Canção de Lisboa,” directed by José Cottinelli Telmo, follows the bohemian life of Vasco Leitão, a young medical student in Lisbon, who lives on his aunts' allowance in the Trás os Montes.
