King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be crowned on Saturday in Westminster Abbey over a day for the Millimeter Programme.

Here’s how it unfolds
- 5 hours (midnightAnd Quebec time): observation posts located along the procession route are opened to the public. First come first served: Early risers can enjoy the best view.
- 6:15 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. (From 1h15 to 2h30): Guests begin arriving at security checkpoints.
- 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. (3h30 to 4h45): the arrival of foreign heads of state and heads of government, ministers and former prime ministers, members of foreign royal families and the British royal family.
- 9:20 a.m. (4h20): King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s motorcade departs from Buckingham Palace in the “Diamond Jubilee State Coach,” a carriage first used in 2014 and will be pulled by six horses. The procession will take the long avenue of The Mall to Trafalgar Square and then cross Whitehall, the Ministries district, before reaching the Abbey.
- 10 am (5 am): Charles and Camilla enter the abbey through the great west gate. Charles will wear a long robe embroidered with scarlet velvet.

The celebration begins.
- 11 am (6 am): Charles III was crowned. The Archbishop of Canterbury places on his head St. Edward’s Crown, a solid gold crown set with rubies, amethysts, and sapphires, and fitted with a purple velvet cap surrounded by an ermine ribbon. To mark the moment, trumpets are sounded and shots are sounded at various locations across the UK.
- 12 m (7 am): the end of the ceremony. The King leaves the Abbey dressed in the ceremonial robes of his grandfather, George VI, of purple silk velvet embroidered with gold. On her head is the Imperial State Crown, set with 2,868 diamonds, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, 269 pearls and four sapphires.
- The procession set off, taking the King and Queen to Buckingham Palace in the Gold State Coach, a golden carriage used at every coronation since William IV in 1831. It would be pulled by eight horses because of its weight: four tons.
- 12:33 (7:33 a.m): Charles and Camilla arrive at Buckingham Palace.
- 12:45 (7:45 a.m): They receive the royal salute from the military in the palace gardens.
- about 1:15 p.m. (8:15 a.m): The king, queen and members of the royal family appear on the balcony of the palace to watch the flypast.
