Cristiano Ronaldo announced on Saturday that he is collaborating with SNK on the video game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which is set to be released in April.
It's an unexpected intersection. On Saturday, Cristiano Ronaldo posted a teaser video on his X account (formerly Twitter) announcing his arrival in SNK's upcoming fighting video game, “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.”
“Something exciting is brewing!” the Portuguese star wrote alongside the teaser. The 30-second video begins on a football pitch and in the corridors of the stadium, before these few words appear: “A legendary player joins a legendary match”, followed by the number 7.
The next sequence shows the letters C and then R displayed on the stadium's giant screen. The spot ends with an iron door that says “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves”, hinting at CR7's presence in the video game, likely as a fighting character.
Ronaldo and his relations with Saudi Arabia
The video game, which will be released on April 24, 2024, is already available for pre-order. If this collaboration may seem surprising, it certainly explains the fact that the Portuguese has been playing in the Saudi championship since 2023 and his signing with Al-Nassr. SNK, the company that produces the Fatal Fury video game series, was almost completely bought in 2022 by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
At 39, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner continues to make his mark on the pitch. CR7 recently surpassed the 900-goal mark and is now aiming for the next iconic milestone, the 1,000. And while he admits he doesn't know when he'll retire, he seems to have a clear idea of where he'd like to end his career: Al Nassr. And so the story between him and Saudi Arabia will continue.
