(APS) – The Portuguese Minister of State for Maritime Affairs, José María Costa, visited Dakarnavi, a ship repair yard located in the Senegalese capital, with the aim of Senegalese-Portuguese cooperation dedicated to training and the maritime economy, APS noted on Friday in Dakar.
“I visited the administration of the Port of Dakar because we have opportunities for cooperation between the autonomous port of Dakar and… [les services portuaires] He said that Portugal “confirmed that his country is 'very interested' in maritime and port cooperation with Senegal.”
Portugal and Senegal will establish a partnership in the fields of maritime training and the maritime economy, according to José María Costa, who visited the Dakarnavi yards of the Portuguese group Lesnavi.
He announced that his country would continue its cooperation with Senegal in the field of aquaculture as well, welcoming the “good work” that Dakarnafi is doing in Dakar.
The General Director of the ship repair yard, Serge Marie Casimago, welcomed the “exemplary cooperation” that Portugal and Senegal maintain in the port sector.
“This great collaboration is the foundation of this successful project, in this case Dakarnav,” he said. “This partnership, established over twenty-four years, has contributed to enhancing knowledge transfer [entre les deux pays].''
“Dakarnaf’s workers, including subcontractors, are almost all Senegalese,” Mr. Kazemajou confirmed.
Al-Hajj Ibrahim Niass, technical advisor to the Senegalese Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, praised the “Portuguese expertise” in the port sector.
More than thirty business leaders from Portugal participated in a forum dedicated to port activities, Thursday, September 14, in Dakar, according to Mr. Nias.
