Amazon expects a significant increase in WiFi 7 compatible products expected at the end of the year and positions itself with a new router, the Eero Max 7. As a reminder, Eero routers can be combined to provide the home with WiFi coverage thanks to the mesh function.
WiFi 7 delivers theoretical speeds 4.8 times faster than WiFi 6, as well as latency improvements through packet optimization and bandwidth aggregation (MLO).
The router is one step ahead
Thus, the Eero Max 7 is compatible with the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz frequency bands. The cumulative throughput of the three frequency bands is 4.3 Gbit/s, but Amazon did not elaborate on the exact throughput supported by each frequency band.
The wired part has not been neglected, as the Eero Max 7 has four multi-gigabit RJ45 ports divided into two 2.5 Gb/s ports and two 10 Gb/s ports. Each port automatically detects LAN or WAN operating mode.
A true hub of connected beings
Home automation enthusiasts will also find something to their liking, since each Eero Max 7 unit is compatible with ZigBee, Matter, and Thread protocols. This will make it possible to do without a connection bridge to bring together all connected objects.
The Eero Max 7 is already available for pre-order starting at €699 per unit, and bundles should be planned in France. Before rushing out to buy a WiFi 7 router, we advise you to wait until the standard is ratified, which should take place in March 2024.
