PARIS, April 9 (Reuters) – Engie has been considering for several weeks the acquisition of Energias de Portugal (EDP), a Portuguese renewable energy company with important sites in the United States and Brazil, we read on Monday on the website of BFM Business http://bfmbusiness.bfmtv.com/entreprise/engie-lorgne-energias-de-portugal-1413558.html, which cites sources close to Engie.
“The acquisition project has been closely studied by Engie's financial management, but no decision will be taken before the new chairman of the French energy group, Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, takes office on May 18,” BFM wrote.
The radio added that the Italian Enel Group is also interested in buying this company, which is valued at more than 11 billion euros.
