The new season of Koh-Lanta begins on Friday, March 15. Among the 21 adventurers in TF1's flagship show is Sophie Chevalier, a Belfort native. At 34, the candidate now lives in southern Portugal, where she teaches windsurfing.
While cast in Koh Lanta, Sophie Chevalier had been thinking about it for years: “I thought, 'Why wouldn't you?' Really. “I was told I was selected three weeks before the adventure began, so it didn't give me time to think or step back,” she recalls.
Koh-Lanta is a way for Sophie to prove to herself that she can manage on her own, without the support of those close to her. A desire consistent with his assertive personality. She adds: “This adventure allowed me to learn to listen and be more tolerant than before.” Registration for the show begins in October for 40 days. “We are isolated from the world, and our mobile phones are taken from us even before we set off from Paris,” says the adventurer. This is also her biggest challenge: being separated from her almost five-year-old daughter. “It was very difficult not to receive any news, it was worrying me.”
Getting to adventure is also difficult. “I was very physically exhausted and lost weight quickly. Moreover, the hardest thing for me was the lack of food. That's all I could think about,” she said. So much so that they eat things they wouldn't normally eat, like insects.
Back in Portugal, Sophie Chevalier regained her starting weight and had a head full of memories. “From a human point of view, it is a wonderful adventure.”
I like living in a community, and I need people to be happy.
