After the pandemic years, Etoile Saint-Yves, Bludanel's football club, decided to test a new competition. In 2022, it will launch a futsal tournament for the U-11 and U-10 categories, before dedicating the event the following year to under-10s only.
During the first edition, Concarneau emerged victorious. It wasn't bad. Then, last year, the ESY Champion's Cup welcomed its first professional club. Currently second in Ligue 1, Stade Brestois 29 has won the title.
Braga addresses
So, what should we expect from this third edition? One thing is certain: the meeting continues to gain momentum. Therefore, if Stade Brestois comes to defend its title, the club from Brittany will not be the only representative of the elite. Toulouse (31) or Le Havre (76) will compete for the cup. But above all, with the presence of the Portuguese club Braga, the tournament receives a foreign delegation for the first time.
In total, 36 teams, or approximately 288 young players, will compete during the 180 scheduled matches. To organize everything, about a hundred volunteers from Étoile Saint-Yves will be on deck during the two days.
Finals are at 5pm on Sunday
If Saturday is devoted mainly to group matches, very serious things will happen on Sunday. On that day, the tournament will adjudicate with quarterfinal matches scheduled for 2pm, semifinals at 3pm and final at 5pm.
