Starting today, Air Canada customers can watch exclusive original content from Apple TV+, thanks to a new partnership with Apple.

Air Canada is the first airline in Canada and the second in the world to offer original content from Apple TV+ on board.

With this addition, Air Canada’s inflight entertainment system offers more than 2,500 hours of live movies, TV shows, podcasts, music, news and sports, nearly double that of last year.

“At Air Canada, we know that in-flight entertainment is an important aspect of travel for our customers, especially on long-haul flights,” said John Moody, general manager of product design for the airline. And with this new partnership with Apple, we’re on track to increase the content of our inflight entertainment system by more than 95 percent compared to last year. We look forward to offering more entertainment options by the end of 2023.”

In May, Air Canada and Bell also began offering free email services to Aeroplan members who travel on Wi-Fi-equipped aircraft in the airline’s fleet, including Air Canada, Rouge and Air Canada Express flights.

Customers can now send and receive text messages over Wi-Fi using messaging apps such as iMessage from Apple, Meta’s WhatsApp and Messenger, Rakuten’s Viber, and Messages by Google.

Last November, Air Canada became the country’s only carrier to offer Live TV in Canada, with channels in French and English, giving customers the chance to cheer on their favorite sports teams in real-time broadcasts of global sporting events or live news in-flight.
