Portugal will participate in the first semi-final of the 68th edition of the tournament Eurovision Song ContestAs dictated by the lottery that determines the order of performance of the competing countries.
According to the organization, the Portuguese actor – who will be announced on March 9 – will take the stage during the second part of the show scheduled for May 7.
Ukraine, Cyprus, Poland, Serbia, Lithuania, Croatia, Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland, Finland, Luxembourg, Australia, Azerbaijan and Moldova also participate in the first semi-final.
The second semi-final match will bring together Austria, Malta, Switzerland, Greece, Czech Republic, Albania, Denmark, Armenia, Israel, Georgia, Netherlands, Norway, Latvia, Sint Marin and Belgium.
Remember, the competition is divided into semi-finals and a grand final, which will take place between May 7 and 11 in Malmö, Sweden. Out of 37 countries, 31 must qualify to the semi-finals and six of them can directly reach the final.
In the final, there is only room for 26 countries: 10 countries qualify in each semi-final and six automatically qualify for the final (the “Big Five” – Germany, Spain, France, Italy and the United Kingdom – and the winning country in the last edition, in this case Sweden).
The song that will represent Portugal during the 58th Festival da Canção will be chosen, which will also hold two semi-finals and a final, scheduled for February 24 and March 2 and 9.
Sweden obtained the “right” to organize the 68th edition of the festival, after Loren won this year’s edition with “Tattoo,” with a total of 583 points. This is the second time that the Swedish singer has won the Eurovision contest, becoming the first woman to win the festival twice. In 2012, she did just that with the song “Euphoria.”
