The passengers of the plane were surprised when they landed when they saw a large hole in the fuselage of the plane they were on.

Pictures of the damaged Airbus A380 that were circulated on social media show the extent of the hole.

A passenger on a 14-hour Emirates flight from Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Brisbane, Australia, described in a tweet on Twitter, the “terrifying” incident that occurred “in an entire flight,” according to CNN.

“It was very terrifying at first and the crew knew something serious might have happened. They immediately called the cockpit,” Andrew Morris, a professor of English at Loughborough University in Britain, wrote.

“Soon after, they resumed their work normally. Their calm was reassuring, they knew it wasn’t disastrous,” the professor added.

Reports indicate that the hull puncture accident occurred about 45 minutes after takeoff, according to CNN.

The hole on the left side of the aircraft is believed to have occurred after a problem with the landing brake.

“After landing, a large hole was seen in the left fuselage, possibly due to the bolt coming out of the landing brake,” reports Avion Herald, a website that specializes in commercial aviation.
