Former Brazilian President Lula, who backed Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the first round, called for a win over Marine Le Pen on Sunday.
Former Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva called on Thursday for the “defeat of the far right” by supporting outgoing President Emmanuel Macron who, he said, “embodies the best of democratic and human values.”
“It is essential to defeat the far right and its message of hate and prejudice. This is what all Democrats want and hope for (…) around the world,” the person on the left insisted in a series of tweets posted on his official account.
In the first round, former Brazilian President (2003-2010) supported the candidate of rebellious France Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

Lula now believes that the outgoing president “is the best person to embody democratic and human values” against his far-right rival Marine Le Pen in Sunday’s election.
