Defensive midfielder Diogo Queirós, who trained at FC Porto, officially trained with USL Dunkerque, in the French Ligue 2, on Wednesday, August 21. The 25-year-old Portuguese arrives from FC Farul Constanta, which he joined on a free transfer last summer, for the next two seasons. In the Romanian top flight, the Matosinhos native has made a total of 27 appearances (in 17 games) during the 2023/2024 financial year. A central defender by trade, his position has recently been changed to sixth.
Diogo Queiroz has an impressive CV behind him with the youth teams of the Portugal national team and the Portugal national team. Porto ClubIn 2016, he won the UEFA European Under-17 Championship with Portugal, earning the captain's armband. He repeated the feat two years later, this time during the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, although he lost his place during the competition. In 2019, he also won the UEFA Youth League, scoring in the final.
But despite these varied successes, Queirós has never been able to confirm the hopes placed on him at the highest level. Porto did not keep him, and he joined Famalicão in 2020, where he played about twenty games before being loaned to Real Valladolid. There, he hardly plays and returns to Fama, but he does not play there either. His best period remains the one he lived for a year in the Romanian championship.
