Multinational corporation McDonald's said on Sunday that it has not given approval to Republican candidate Donald Trump to prepare French fries in its restaurant, but its restaurants can accommodate political figures without asking his permission.

The former US President took the stage on Sunday in one of the popular restaurants that was closed for the occasion in Pennsylvania, where he served small portions of french fries to some of his supporters.
In a letter it sent to its employees, a copy of which was obtained by the American media outlet CNN, the company indicated that it had nothing to do with Trump’s visit to its restaurant or the media interest that the latter had generated.
Franchised restaurants can decide to hold such events without needing the approval of the parent company.
However, McDonald's used the event to promote the prominent place its brand holds in the lives of millions of Americans.
“As we have seen, our brand has been part of many conversations during this presidential election,” the letter said. “Even if we don't seek this attention, it shows how much McDonald's resonates with so many Americans.”
We continue: “We do not endorse any candidate for any election whatsoever, and this remains true for the 2024 presidential election.”
McDonald's adds that the franchisee in question in Bucks County, near Lancaster, received a request from Donald Trump's campaign team and agreed to hold the event at his restaurant.
Donald Trump isn't the only one who talked about McDonald's during the election campaign.
Her presence in this branch in Pennsylvania was closely linked to the fact that Democratic candidate Kamala Harris often indicated that she once worked in a McDonald's restaurant during her speeches in recent months.
