Chelsea have reached an agreement with Italian club Roma for the loan of Romelu Lukaku, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Monday evening.
According to Italian daily Sport, he is on a one-year loan with no option to buy. The London club will receive €5.8m in the process when the Red Devil, who agreed to take a salary cut, will receive €7.5m a year.
Lukaku is due in Rome on Tuesday for a medical, Gazzetta reports.
In Rome, he will find striker Jose Mourinho, who previously coached at Chelsea and Manchester United.
Lukaku was appointed by Chelsea in 2021 for 115 million euros after a first period between 2011 and 2014, and Lukaku was already loaned last season to Inter Milan, with whom he returned by scoring 14 goals.
Roma and its American owner Dan Friedkin are particularly active during the current summer transfer window. On Saturday, 28-year-old Iran international Sardar Azmoun joined the club from Bayer Leverkusen on loan with an option to buy.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes has returned to the Italian capital, six years after leaving. Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanchez also left PSG for Roma, this time on loan with an option to buy.
Lyon player Hossam Awar signed with the Romanian club last June for five years.
