A Florida mother who accused her 7-year-old daughter of shooting her husband in the head has been convicted of the crime.
After five hours of deliberation, the jury convicted Lori Schaefer of second-degree murder with a firearm, WFTV reports.
Prosecutors said the 41-year-old shot Michael Schaefer in the head at their Claremont, U.S., home in November 2015, then spent the next three years claiming he was still alive.
The 30-year-old's body was not found until 2018, when police were called to search the Disney employee's home.
The remains were eventually discovered buried under a concrete slab in the family's backyard.
After the murder of her husbandI Schaefer introduced herself on Facebook pretending to be him, telling her boss he was resigning and moving to Georgia.
The woman insisted on her innocence, even accusing her 7-year-old daughter of shooting her husband.
Defense lawyers said they intend to appeal the verdict.
His sentence is scheduled to be announced on November 25. Lori Schaefer faces life in prison, according to US media.
