An Oklahoma man who was scheduled to appear in court on a car theft charge drove to his hearing in a stolen ambulance.
Cody Adams initially tried to get to the Pawnee County Courthouse, about fifty miles from his home, but no driver bothered to stop and pick him up.
Then the accused, who noticed the ambulance stopping in front of a gas station, did not think twice about getting behind the wheel and driving off, according to what Auto-Motorcycle magazine reported on Tuesday.
No doubt out of an abundance of caution, once he reached his destination, the thief who was not intercepted en route made sure to park the stolen medical truck a few hundred meters from the court so as not to be seen.
But it was too late, as police officers were already waiting for him in front of the court, as CCTV cameras at the gas station made it possible to file the report, prompting the police to take action.
After hearing from the young suspect, who found himself in a repeated case, he was placed in custody in the Payne County Jail on a bail of 10,000 US dollars, according to specialized media.
