In its fiftieth edition, from July 1-10, 2022, the La Rochelle Festival will celebrate one of the greatest figures in French cinema, presenting a review of the past and bringing together the cinemas of yesterday and today.
This is a special anniversary edition of the La Rochelle Cinéma Festival, which this year celebrates, from 1 to 10 July, its half-century anniversary. For this occasion, he will dedicate a huge tribute to one of the most important French actors of his generation: Alain Delon.
Not only will his legendary azure looks be honored on the festival poster, his great roles will also be (re)discovered, thanks to restored copies of 21 starring films. to Christina From Pierre Gaspard Ho in 1958 to new wave Jean-Luc Godard in 1990, via Cheetah by Luchino Visconti (1963) and policeman By Jean-Pierre Melville (1972), Alain Delon’s eclectic career will be the common thread for this 50th festival, with meetings, tribute sessions and an exhibition dedicated to the 86-year-old actor.
Rich and eclectic program
Two prominent figures of European cinema will also be honored in La Rochelle: British director Joanna Hogg and Spanish director Jonas Tropa. These ten days are interspersed with other events: six modern Ukrainian films will be presented, including three previews, and 26 Portuguese films of yesterday and today will accompany the exhibition. In addition, five feature films starring Brad Pitt will be enjoyed without moderation, and the documentary directed by Giuseppe Tornator and dedicated to Ennio Morricone will be shown in preview. Finally, movie parties and movie restorations as well as recent favorites from around the world (eg Pacifiction – Doom on the islands by Albert Serra or even almond trees Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) during these ten days.
