The 2022 Tour de France kicks off in Copenhagen and ends in Paris on Sunday 24 July, with Slovenian star Tadej Pojákár hoping to wear yellow and be crowned champion for the third year in a row.
He will take charge of Dutch side Jumbo-Visma, which faces multiple threats including Pojacar national teammate Primoz Roglic and last year’s runner-up Jonas Weingard.
Meanwhile, the Ineos Grenadiers are missing their main star, Egan Bernal, the 2019 champion still recovering from injury, but they fit in with recent Tour de Suisse winner Geraint Thomas, and Colombian climber Dani Martinez, as well as potential winners. Adam Yates and Tom Bidcock.
The tour usually starts on Saturday, but moving this year’s opening three stages in Copenhagen to northern France means a day of early rest and a start on Friday to accommodate them.
