Vladimir Putin has brushed aside both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for his selection of the world’s greatest soccer players – but in all honesty right now, the Russian president has other, more important things on his mind with this tension in Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin notably ignored Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi from his selection of the three best players in the world.
Bien que les deux footballeurs aient remporté à eux deux 12 Ballon d’Or combinés, le président de la Russie, 69 ans, n’a pas pensé à sélectionner l’ as de Manchester United ou le héros du PSG dans ses ses choixjo des meues from the planet.
Instead, Putin instead chose Pele and Diego Maradona as the answers for the top two as the duo dominated the football scene throughout the 1960s and 1980s respectively.
And to complete his trilogy, he cited Lev Yashin, a figure from the legacy of international football. GK was a historical figure in the USSR. Vladimir Putin chose Pele as one of his top picks for the world’s greatest footballer
Brazil’s all-time top scorer, Argentina’s World Cup champion and nine-time European goalkeeper are undoubtedly Putin’s strong choices, but the absence of Messi or Ronaldo was remarkable.
Both have shined in the modern era, sparking controversy over the Goats due to their scoring ratio. Messi is the seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or while collecting the most goals and assists in La Liga.
While Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or five times and is the greatest goalscorer in history and the Champions League. But neither seems good enough to make Putin’s list.
Although, the Russian president is probably a big fan of Ronaldo due to his extreme love of fitness.
Putin devotes two hours a day to keeping fit and is an avid swimmer and gym user, while occasionally enjoying judo.
“I also play hockey, but not as often as I want,” Putin admitted to the Russian news agency TASS. “It would be an exaggeration to say that I’m actually ‘playing’, but I’m really trying.”
